The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted on April 21, 2020 to keep the following county beaches open:
- Aliso Beach
- Capistrano Beach
- Dana Point Harbor
- Newport Harbor
- Salt Creek Beach
- Sunset Harbor
OC Supervisor Don Wagner said, “We’re urging people to get outside. If we’ve got some great weather, some sunshine and fresh air, what better place to enjoy it than the beaches if enjoyed responsibly? And I trust our citizens to in fact be responsible.”

Beach Crowd Concerns Due To This Week’s Warming Weather
Public officials worry that the warmer weather expected to climb into the 80s and 90s across Southern California by the weekend will prompt thousands to head to the sand to get some relief.
With San Diego beaches closed and Los Angeles County’s beaches off-limits, Orange County beaches could become crowded and put people’s health at risk.
OC Cities Beaches Remain Closed
Up and down the coast, beach parking lots and meters along PCH remain closed. Seal Beach, Laguna Beach, The Wedge in Newport Beach, and San Clemente State Beach remain closed.
San Clemente Beach Could Open Soon
San Clemente city officials voted late Tuesday night, April 21, to allow “active recreation” at city beaches and coastal trail with limited park access.
The unanimous decision to open San Clemente’s beaches followed the OC Board of Supervisors vote to keep county beaches open, which include nearby Salt Creek, Strands Beach and Capistrano Beach.
